The Humvee, or going by its longer name the High Mobility Multipurpose Vehicle was introduced in 1983 as the US military’s foremost ground vehicle. The Humvee was used as the basis of the civilian Hummer H1 which was introduced in 1992 after some passionate lobbying by The Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
