Ford’s Bronco is one of just two modern SUVs available today with a removable roof and removable doors. Way back when it was first introduced, these weren’t even on the menu. Ford wanted to create a tough yet family-friendly off-roader to take on the Toyota Land Cruiser and International Scout. They revealed the first-generation Bronco in 1966, and the rest, as they say, is history. Five generations were made until 1996 before a twenty-five-year hiatus and a sixth generation arriving for the 2021 model year. That gap has created a clear distinction between classic and modern Broncos. Today’s 1995 Ford Bronco XLT, for example, is definitely a classic, albeit a modern classic. With a heady 200,372 miles on the odometer, this Virginia-based machine can definitely double that at least, in the right hands and with the right care. Don’t be afraid, the Bronco isn’t high maintenance at all.
