Development of the fifth-generation Mustang began in 1999 under the watchful eye of chief engineer Hau Thai-Tang and concluded in 2002 under chief designer J Mays. The iconic pony car was manufactured for a decade between 2004 to 2014 with its first model driving out of Flat Rock Assembly Factory on the 27th of September in 2004. The GT trim such as the one in the example was one of the more powerful models and housed a variety of performance parts to enhance its track capabilities. However, this particular Mustang goes a fair few steps ahead, and is Roush factory spec’d car. Located in Arizona and has been equipped with a Stage One Roush Performance Package, with a unique appearance compared to the standard GT.

Ford refers to this exterior color coating as ‘screaming yellow’, a name that justifies its eye-catching appearance. The full six-piece stage one Roush aero body kit is all original with the car built in the Roush factory itself. The package includes lower valence fog lamps, a hood scoop, along with wide fenders, air intakes, and a custom-made spoiler to increase aerodynamic ability. Additionally, the car is equipped with color match panels, Roush badging throughout, a polished dual exhaust, and sits on a set of Roush wheels wrapped in performance tires. A look inside the Mustang reveals a black leather interior with Roush floor mats, black and yellow leather seats to match the exterior, along with silver accents for a sporty finish.

Under the hood of the ’Stang is a 4.6L V-8 SOHC 24 valve engine with just 9064 miles on the road that produces 300 HP to the rear wheels via a 5-speed standard manual transmission.

Accompanied by its build sheet, copy of the window sticker, original sales contract, owner’s manual, shop manual, wiring diagram manual, and extra keys, this Mach 1 offers the kind of provenance collectors look for in a blue-chip Ford muscle car.
