Development of the fifth-generation Mustang began in 1999 under the watchful eye of chief engineer Hau Thai-Tang and concluded in 2002 under chief designer J Mays. The iconic pony car was manufactured for a decade between 2004 to 2014 with its first model driving out of Flat Rock Assembly Factory on the 27th of September in 2004.
