2016 saw the set to pasture a beloved JDM classic, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, in its 10th generation of production. A quick history lesson reveals that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation was founded in 1970 in Japan. Shortly after its founding, Mitsubishi introduced the Mitsubishi Lancer, a subcompact car positioned below the Galant. The 90s saw the boom of world-class rallying, and with Subaru's success in the sport, Mitsubishi wanted a cut of it. They had initially entered rally racing with the 1973 Lancer and swiftly netted the top four positions. From 1992 to 2016, Mitsubishi produced the Lancer Evolution, which heavily utilized rally designs and mechanicals in a road car. Tear up the asphalt and soar above dirt roads with this tuned 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII with a reported 55,750 miles on the odometer.
The Lancer Evolution VIII is a beautiful and frightful car in general. With this 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII sporting a full custom widebody body kit from APR, its looks are even further alleviated. The hood is host to a hood vent covered in a black grille, while the front fascia consists of the APR front bumper that adds in side carbon fiber finished side canards and a front splitter. The bumper features a grille through which the massive intercooler can be seen with its accompanying pipes. Dominating the rear is a large APR carbon fiber rear spoiler bolted onto the decklid, which is also host to the EVO VIII chrome badging. Lower can be seen in the APR widebody rear bumper with its diffuser. A set of custom-made multi-spoke wheels in bright chrome from Works grace this black-painted Evo and is backed by the red-painted Stop Tech brake calipers. The interior is somewhat spartan as it features a blue and black cloth finish for the Recaro bucket seats. A full audio system from Alpine has been installed for a resounding audio experience.
This 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII's beauty lies within its mechanical heart that's been upgraded from stock. It is powered by a 4G63 2.3L stroked turbocharged inline-4 engine with AMS Performance pipes. The seller reports that the manual transmission has been just rebuilt while a new clutch was added. A further modification includes a carbon fiber driveshaft and Tech Stop braking system.
