Anyone who has even a passing interest in cars likely knows about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. This is what happened when Mitsubishi decided to inject some of their World Rally Championship-winning DNA into their Lancer compact car. Ten generations of Evolution were made between 1992 and 2016, thrilling enthusiasts across the globe. Early models sadly didn’t make it to the United States, but later ones did. This particular 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR is rather interesting, as it’s from the last generation of Evo, as they are fondly known. With its 2.0-liter MIVEC TURBO engine, 5-speed manual transmission and Sight & Sound Package, it’s got quite a value proposition to offer. In short, it’s a ferociously quick family car that can easily settle down for a daily drive, then buckle up for the weekend blast at the track.
Exterior and Interior
From the outside, the GSR builds on its rally heritage with functional aluminum front fenders, a vented aluminum hood, a rear wing, and 18-inch Enkei wheels. Additional exterior features include rear privacy glass, heated power side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and fog lights. Inside, the cabin focuses on sporty practicality, offering high-contact sport fabric seats, automatic climate control, FAST-key illumination (included with the Sight & Sound Package), a multi-information LCD display, and a 6.1-inch display audio system with HD Radio, SiriusXM capability, and Bluetooth. The interior also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum pedals, gloss black trim, a trunk light, and multiple storage compartments. Safety and comfort conveniences such as adjustable rear headrests, height-adjustable front seatbelts, and a full suite of airbags complete the interior.
Engine
Under the hood lies Mitsubishi’s 2.0L turbocharged DOHC 16-valve engine rated at 291 hp and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The GSR features rack-and-pinion hydraulic power steering, Brembo front and rear brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs (GSR standard). The advanced Super All-Wheel Control system integrates multiple stability and traction technologies including Active Center Differential, Active Yaw Control, Active Stability Control, and a limited-slip front differential. Safety systems include ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, tire pressure monitoring, LATCH child restraints, and an anti-theft engine immobilizer. The optional Sight & Sound Package adds the HID headlights, premium Rockford Fosgate sound system, and FAST-key entry, rounding out the vehicle’s factory mechanical and electronic equipment.

Now here’s a lovely little curio all the way from the Land of the Rising Sun – Japan! It’s called the Mitsubishi Pajero Junior, and it’s a dinky little four-by-four! Yes, this cutesy thing you see in our photos is a fully-fledged off-roader! The Pajero Junior was made between 1995 and 1998, as a bite-sized variant of Mitsubishi’s capable Pajero (or Montero, depending on where you hail from) full-size off-roader. It’s a little larger than a kei car, but not by much. This particular 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero Junior ZR-II is up for sale in Oceanside, New York, having covered a mere only over 28,000 miles so far. So, if you want a small vehicle that’s great for urban running duties but can also conquer an off-road trail and shame much larger four by fours, this is your ticket to ride.
The 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder is a lightweight, mid-engine roadster built around a simple formula that enthusiasts still appreciate today: low weight, rear-wheel drive, a manual gearbox, and open-top driving.
