Nissan’s hallowed GT-R badge was worshipped by JDM automotive aficionados whenever they saw it on a Skyline, as it signified a giant-killer. In 2007, Nissan deemed the GT-R tag worthy of its own car, and bestowed it upon their sports car and grand tourer. Thus, the Nissan GT-R was born, and from 2007 to 2021, it’s been through two facelifts and still remains a giant-killer to this day. This 2009 Nissan GT-R Coupe is from the first generation sans any facelifts. Coming with just 23,000 miles, the car is beautiful thing to own, look at and drive, as well as a savvy investment for the future – it’s a dead cert that the GT-R will be a future classic.

The Nissan GT-R came with a relatively limited color palette, and this 2009 Nissan GT-R Coupe wears a slick gunmetal gray paintjob, and rolls on 20-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in reportedly new Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires. It’s not uncommon to bolt on bodykits and sky-high spoilers to GT-Rs, and this example is free from all that, for the person who likes that distinctive shape the way it left the Nissan factory. The interior sports a black color theme and offers seating for four occupants on leather seats. You also get carpeted GT-R floor mats, dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, iPod connectivity and Bose premium sound system. Three toggles low down in the center console allow you to adjust the settings for dampers, drive mode and traction control, with the iconic ‘R’ signifying the most extreme performance settings. Being a practical grand tourer, it also boasts of a decently sized boot.

Whilst most top-shelf sportscars and entry-level supercars pack at least eight cylinders, this 2009 Nissan GT-R Coupe makes do with a relatively lowly 3.8L V6. However, that trick engine has twin turbochargers, plasma-sprayed cylinder liner bores and continuously variable intake valve timing, amongst a host of other things. There are only five craftsmen in the Nissan factory who are qualified to assemble a GT-R’s engine in a dust-proofed clean room, and each car carries the name of the craftsman responsible for its engine on a plaque. The result is 480hp and 430lb-ft which is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox. This GT-R reports slight modifications by the seller, in the shape of upgraded brakes and an aftermarket exhaust.

The word GT-R strikes excitement into fans of JDM cars, specifically those from Nissan. The legendary Skyline GT-R first made an appearance way back in 1969, as a high-performance derivative of the Skyline model. Since then, there were many iterations, notably the R32, R33 and R34 models which offered real performance and driving pleasure. However, in the early 2000s, Nissan changed the direction of the GT-R. It would now become a stand-alone model, in the form of a two-door 2+2 sports car. The new GT-R debuted in 2007, as the R35. The car was such a hit that it was made right up until this year, albeit with several upgrades and facelifts over the year. Widely considered to be the performance bargain of the decade, and offering true giant-killing performance, you can get your very own GT-R right now.
