The race for the best electric or plug-in hybrid cars began in earnest at the start of the previous decade, and with it, it had reeled in BMW. BMW understood where the distant future of the automobile would be and introduced its i-Series which the i3 opened in 2013 and the plug-in hybrid sports car BMW i8 followed in 2014. Exterior and Interior

Engine
2017 BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Black Edition uses the 1.5L I3 turbo engine with its accompanying hybrid synchronous motor. As expected it uses an automatic transmission that diverts the combined power of 357hp and 420 lb.ft of torque to the all-wheel drive system.
