The BMW i8 looks like something straight out of the future. When it debuted in 2014, onlookers gasped with amazement, and interested parties flocked to showrooms to see what the fuss was all about. The i8 was one of the early models from BMW’s now-renowned ‘I’ range of electric and hybrid vehicles. Over 20,000 vehicles were sold between 2014 and 2020, which is pretty decent for a low-slung, two-door sports car that fills a pretty niche market segment. So, if you want to get your mitts on an i8, here’s a 53,000-mile 2015 BMW i8 available right now. The car comes with some neat cosmetic enhancements, too.
Originally a blue car, this 2015 BMW i8 is actually still blue – underneath its Inozetek Chalk Gray wrap, that is. So, you can decide which color will suit your persona and pick accordingly. The car’s 21-inch Vossen HF-5 wheels also contribute towards its unique appearance and are quite different in looks from the stock units that BMW fits to the i8 line-up. So, even if you park this among a gathering of other i8s, it’ll still stand out. The lime green interior of this 2015 BMW i8 is a custom affair featuring Lamborghini leather. Fitting, given that the i8 also sports butterfly doors as factory fitment. However, this car also has a Rolls-Royce-style illuminated star roof, and some carbon fiber trim. Since it’s a coupe, you’ve also got two small rear seats, although we don’t recommend placing any adults there. Treat the i8 as a two-seater with extra luggage space behind the front seats, and you’ll find it very livable.
The i8’s space-age looks are backed up by an interesting powertrain. There’s a mid-mounted 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine to power the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, there’s a front-mounted electric motor to drive the front axle. The result is an all-wheel drive beast with 357hp and 420lb-ft on tap. Zero to sixty can be done in as fast as 4.5 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155mph, just like most other BMWs.
