The sixth-generation Ford Mustang is already widely regarded as one of the most successful interpretations of the legendary pony car. And with Ford pushing this iteration of Mustang towards a more global market, it’s no surprise to find it has many more fans. In response, the aftermarket industry has outdone itself with the various performance add-ons and upgrades available. And, when one of the most experienced American performance car tuners, Hennessey, got their hands on the Mustang GT350 platform, the results were phenomenal. This 2016 Ford Mustang Hennessey HPE850 is located in South Carolina and has just 4300 miles under its belt. With staggering performance figures under the hood, this hyper-performance incarnation of Mustang could be yours.
Finished in gloss black on black, this Ford Mustang Hennessey may have outlandish performance credentials, but the subtle exterior treatment is just enough to ensure that it flies under the radar. Externally, it shares the same flourishes as the Shelby GT350. Added to this is an assortment of Hennessey and HPE850 badges, along with a serial-numbered interior plaque and under-hood plaque to guarantee authenticity.
Hennessey’s efforts have been concentrated on the Mustang’s 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 heart. The standard naturally-aspirated GT350 flat-crank engine delivered 526 hp. The Hennessey HPE850 performance pack adds a 2.9-liter Supercharger system, high-flow throttle body, high-flow fuel injectors, high-flow heat exchanger, a high-flow air induction system, and Kooks long-tube headers. These extensive and professionally-installed upgrades bring power up to 858 hp and 673 lb-ft of torque—enough for a mind-bending 0-60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds. As an added incentive to those who prefer a raw connection to the driving experience, all 858 hp is sent to the rear wheels via a manual transmission.
The original Mustang Boss 302 of the late 1960’s is an iconic muscle car in every respect. So, when Ford decided to resurrect the idea in 2012, the bar was already set high. Many feared the reincarnated Boss 302 would be nothing more than a marketing exercise that evoked memories of the original through visual upgrades and nothing more. However, the fears were put to rest when the car was unveiled. While visually, the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 does differ from the GT500, there was so much more going on under the skin. The result was almost universally praised by the press, with an extra 32 horsepower from the engine, a completely revised approach to the car’s suspension, and improved brakes. If that wasn’t enough, the Boss 302 presented today has gone under some significant modifications by GALPIN Auto Sports. With a host of upgrades, and some eliminations, this Mustang is set as a proper track car with a gutted interior and a new 5.2L V8 engine that features other functional upgrades that could be the perfect track-weapon in your garage.
This generation of Shelby Mustang is very special to enthusiasts. The 2014 GT500 is recognized as the final Shelby Mustang that the legendary founder, Carroll Shelby, was able to sign off on before his passing. The 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 heritage links all the way back to the renowned AC Cobra, and its performance roots are proudly on display with the Shelby moniker at the back and Cobra badges on the fenders. The Super Snake version was born as a result of their customers' desire for more power, better performance, and improved handling. There’s a plethora of reasons and more for you to make this 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake yours, and it only has 4,600 miles on its clock.
