What we have here is a car that has a very strong and passionate fan base and has revolutionized the automotive culture. You don’t have to be a seasoned automotive enthusiast to know that the 1965 Ford Mustang is the icon that established the "pony car" segment. At the time it was marketed as an affordable sports car allowing it to boost sales and popularity among young buyers. Thanks to that, it was a commercial triumph that saw record-breaking sales. This first-generation Mustang also became a ‘60s cultural symbol and was featured in films like "Bullitt" and "Gone in 60 Seconds." Our subject Mustang is particularly a 1964.5 (1/2) model implying it is one of the earliest Mustangs to come out of the factory.
Exterior and Interior
This 1964½ Ford Mustang wears an eye-catching red paint coat and has a few modern conveniences that bring it to the modern age. There is plenty of chrome on the bumpers, quarter panel inserts, rocker trim, doors, and mirrors, as well as around the lighting and windows. Leading the car is the sprinting Mustang badge on the grille and correct Mustang logos can be seen on the front fenders and rear of the car. It rides on 20” wheels and Michelin rubber. If you look closely, you can notice the Wilwood brake calipers peek through the wheels. Opening this Mustang's twin doors reveals a black interior with red seatbelts and a red dash. We were told that this 1964½ Ford Mustang retains its original 289ci V8 engine and it has seen 110000 miles so far. The original automatic transmission is rebuilt. The engine breaths through a new 2-barrel carburetor and enjoys new hoses and belts ensuring that the driver gets an optimal Mustang experience. A new Heidts racing front end offers excellent response to peak performance while the new Heidts braking system takes care of stopping power.
