Background Story of this 1971 Chevrolet El Camino

Overview of 1971 Chevrolet El Camino For Sale by Owner

The Chevrolet El Camino holds a special place in the pantheon of American classic cars. It combined good looks with genuine versatility and proved a popular option for everyone, from trades workers to families. The combination of a car-like front end with the practicality of a load tray earned it many fans and is a body style that is fairly uncommon in today's automotive landscape. The third-generation El Camino shared its styling with the Chevelle and was updated to mimic the passenger car’s looks for the 1971 model year. Our featured example is a 1971 Ford El Camino powered by a rebuilt 350ci V8 engine, which has undergone a host of new parts and maintenance.

Exterior and Interior

For the 1971 model year, the Chevrolet El Camino got a new front end, swapping the dual headlight arrangement for more powerful single units. Other changes made for 1971 include a new grille and bumper, as well as changes to the parking, signal, and marker lights. Our featured car is painted in a deep shade of blue and features traditional white stripes over the top. You’ll also notice hood pins, as well as the famed SS badging on the grille and front fenders. The bumpers and trim are reported to be new. The car sits on a set of American Racing five-spoke wheels wrapped in brand-new tires. The interior of this classic El Camino is upholstered in black leather, with lap belts present for the occupants. The door handles are reported as new, and an aftermarket tachometer sits within eye line, just behind the steering wheel. The cabin also benefits from the addition of a new air conditioning system.

Engine

Under the hood is a 350ci V8 engine that has reportedly been rebuilt by the current owner. The motor features a new Holley carburetor, as well as a new valve cover and air cleaner. In addition to the refreshed engine, there have been aftermarket headers and camshaft added for better performance and sound. You’ll also find a newly rebuilt transmission. The automatic gearbox sends power to the rear wheels. The rear axles are also aided by the installation of air suspension for adjustable ride height and a cushioned ride.

1970 Chevrolet El Camino Restomod LT1

PENDING SALE
$59,999
SOLD

The El Camino has got to be Chevy’s most famous Coupe Utility, or Ute. The idea of a Coupe Utility isn’t new to the El Camino; in fact it means a single-cab pickup truck built on a car platform and sporting a unibody construction. You can see that in the El Camino and other Coupe Utilities, where a traditional pickup truck would have a break between the passenger cabin and cargo bed, a Coupe Utility simply combines them into a seamless shape and structure. Today, we have a third generation 1970 Chevrolet El Camino Restomod for sale from Lincoln, Illinois. As the name suggests, it’s got some neat upgrades. These include a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated LT1 V8, a 4L60E autobox, a reupholstered interior and many more things. If you’d like to take on this vehicle that’s got only 1,090 miles on it since rebuilding, talk to us and we can help.

Chevy introduced the El Camino in 1964 to compete with the Ford Ranchero. It has always captivated our attention as one of the most distinctive American cars of all time. The fifth generation of the El Camino, which our subject car is from, marked the end of this folk hero of a car. The death of the El Camino was a somber one, though there have been rumors Chevy's going to bring it back. For now, we have well-preserved examples like this 1986 Chevrolet El Camino to enjoy the peculiarity of this model. It has over 146,000 miles on it and reportedly has all its maintenance up to date.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$109,999

Chevy’s answer to Ford’s pony car challenge, the Camaro came in 1967 and brought a sister along for the ride, in the shape of the Pontiac Firebird. This was a smart move by General Motors as it allowed them to sell two suitably varied models in the same segment but with much of the same underpinnings, engines and other components. The Firebird was axed in 2002 but the Camaro continued to be made until 2024. That makes it the second longest-running pony car in history. Today, we’ve got a nice first-generation 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS for sale in St. Cloud, Florida. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 is a show-stopping example of American muscle restored to concours-level detail. Verified by its X66 code and built at the Norwood, Ohio plant, this real-deal Super Sport coupe combines factory originality with subtle performance enhancements that elevate both its drivability and collectability. With its matching-numbers big-block, correct Turbo 400 transmission, and period-authentic Holley 4346 carburetor, this Camaro is the perfect blend of raw 1960s muscle and expert craftsmanship.

1952 Chevrolet 3100 Restomod

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$49,989

The first new Chevy truck to come out since World War II ended, the Advance Design era ran between 1947 and 1955. It replaced the older AK series and was bigger, stronger and sleeker in design. The range started with the 3100 half-tonner, and went on through the one-ton 3800, and into chassis cabs and medium-duty trucks. Now, the Advance Design has found some fame as a restomod platform. That’s what we have here, a 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Restomod from Smithville, Texas. This truck has undergone a full makeover, including a new 396ci V8, a 4-speed automatic gearbox, air conditioning and much more. If you want to rock and roll around in something different to your typical classic car, this is a fine option to consider.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$89,999

Chevy’s second-generation Corvette was made from 1963 to 1967, but across that relatively short lifcycle, over 117,000 examples found homes. This highlights how popular the Corvette was back then, much like it is now. The second generation or C2 brought about many features that we know from later ‘Vettes, such as pop-up headlamps, the boat-tailed styling, and the exclusive use of V8s for the Corvette – the C1 did offer a six cylinder early in its lifecycle but that wasn’t deemed worthy for a top-tier sports car. Today, we’ve got a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe for sale from Shohola, Pennsylvania, and let us tell you it’s a catch. With a growling 327 under the hood, this is classic American car nirvana at its finest. Plus, given the great condition of the car, it’s a sure-fire appreciating asset if you continue to look after it. If you’re interested in getting your hands on this beauty, we’re waiting for your call or DM.

1977 Chevrolet Corvette

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$20,000

Chevy’s third-generation Corvette of 1968 to 1982 was the best-seller in the entire range, in terms of generational numbers. Thanks to its super-long production run, over 542,000 were made, despite it carrying on through the dreaded Malaise Era. During these dark times for automotive enthusiasts, Chevy worked hard to maintain the Corvette as one of the fastest American cars around – of course that was a subjective term, but impressive, nonetheless. Hence, a C3 Corvette is a robust way to enter the world of classic American cars. Want to know more? We’ve got a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette for sale from Littleton, Colorado right here. It packs a 350ci L48 under the hood, paired with an automatic transmission to make it more convenient for those who never bothered to learn stick shift.
