It was designed to pay homage to the original 356 America Roadster that was created back in 1952. The Porsche 356 AR was also a U.S.-only special, which was made at the behest of famed imported Max Hoffman, who saw demand for a roadster tailored to U.S. consumers. The 1992 Porsche 911 America Roadster features a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter engine in a Turbo body, while other mechanical elements from the Turbo are included. The 1992 Porsche 911 America Roadster was a wonderfully unique creation. It features a 964 Turbo wide body, which includes muscular rear fenders to cover the beefier wheels found on the forced-induction car. Likewise, this limited edition 964 also gets the Turbo’s rare “cup” five-spoke wheels, as well as the Turbo-spec brakes and other suspension components. However, in stock form, the America Roadster did without the whale tail spoiler. Our featured car has a black exterior that is reportedly original and protected by a paint protection film. The car sports an aftermarket rear wing that mimics the item found on the back of the 964 Turbo Cabriolet. Other aftermarket add-ons include Rennline carbon fiber and metal accents installed, as reported by the current owner. The owner also informs us that the convertible top does not function.
