Overview of 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Premium For Sale by Owner

The fourth-generation Mustang gets lost in people's minds when thinking about the world's definitive pony car. That's a shame because Ford made quite a few interesting variants during the fourth generation's ten-year production run. Take this 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Premium as a solid example. With just 4,900 miles, it's clear that this car was preserved in pristine order, and today it's up for sale and as close to a brand-new fourth-gen 'Stang as you can find. Buy it if you wish, but don't dilly-dally too much on your decision.

Exterior and Interior

Dressed in a lovely blue paint job, this 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Premium is definitely one for keeps. Notable features include the composite hood with a shaker scoop, special Mach 1 heritage aluminum alloy wheels, a distinctive chin spoiler, and a black rear spoiler. You'll find plenty of badging, including 40th Anniversary commemorative ones and "Powered By Ford Racing" emblems. The most distinctive badge, however, is the retro-styled "Mach1" badge at the rear. Inside, there's a cabin that seats four adults on black leather seats, and it looks as untouched as you'd expect on a sub-5,000-mile car. The Interior Upgrade Package has been specified, as has the aluminum finish door lock, 4-way head restraints, stainless steel footrest and pedals, and rear window defroster. The driver gazes at a beautiful retro-style gauge cluster that was also present on the Bullitt edition of the fourth generation and grips a unique aluminum shifter ball with a body-colored ring. Amenities include air conditioning and a radio with a 6-CD changer.

Engine

This 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Premium packs a 4.6L V8 that develops 305hp and sends it to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. There's a Traction-Lok limited-slip rear differential as well. Handling is further enhanced by power rack and pinion steering, as well as power 4-wheel disc brakes. The Mach 1 suspension package is present, with stiff springs and, we're told, revalved struts and shocks. Front and rear stabilizer bars are present and work hand-in-hand with the modified MacPherson strut front suspension, as well as the Quadra-shock rear suspension that includes variable-rate coil springs. An HD 130-amp alternator ensures that the car's electrical needs are adequately met.
