Overview of 1963 Chevrolet Nova II 4-Door Sedan For Sale by Owner

The Chevrolet Nova II, or Chevy II line-up was created in 1962, as a compact automobile. Chevy knew that not everyone wanted full-size or midsize cars, and as a result, the the Nova sold really well throughout its five generations of existence. Naturally, first-generation Novas, like this 1963 Chevrolet Nova II 4-Door Sedan from Liberty, New Jersey, are great collector cars. They’re slowly creeping up in value as more and more eager classic car collectors shift their attention towards the more workmanlike American cars from the Sixties and Seventies. After all, it’s entirely possible that this 75,000-mile sedan was a stalwart family car back in its day, with its 238ci V8 and Powerglide automatic transmission. Now, it makes for a fine catch if you’re classic car fishing.

Exterior and Interior

Wearing a Champagne Beige Poly paint job, you can see that this 1963 Chevrolet Nova II 4-Door Sedan isn’t a land yacht even from our photos. Instead, with its stylish shape, restrained chrome work and steel wheels with hubcaps, it’s clearly an everyman’s kind of car. In a purely academic sense, the first-generation Nova Sedan was 183 inches long and 78 inches wide. That’s at least twenty or so inches shorter than your typical Land Yacht, making these cars very easy to operate in crowded urban settings. The gray and beige interior of this 1963 Chevrolet Nova II 4-Door Sedan is similarly functional in nature to its exterior. You’ve got wind-up windows, a heating and ventilation system, and a push-button radio with 8-track tape player in the dashboard. The gauge cluster, thin-rimmed steering wheel and column-mounted gear shifter are all classic Sixties Americana to behold, as are the front and rear bench seats which means that three adults can occupy each bench if desired. There are some lap belts too, for added safety. The trunk is also reasonably spacious given that this is a compact car, and contains the full-size spare wheel and tire too.

Engine

This 1963 Chevrolet Nova II 4-Door Sedan has a 283ci V8 under the hood. There’s a 4-barrel carburetor feeding it. This engine was tuned for frugality and easy torque delivery rather than tire smoking, making a reported 190 horsepower. Moreover, it powers the rear wheels through a lazy but smooth 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. We’re also informed that this car features aftermarket tubular front suspension.
