Overview of 1964 Ford Thunderbird For Sale by Owner

Introduced by Ford as a personal luxury car, the T-bird was an iconic machine in the American carmaker's selection. Throughout its time in production, the Thunderbird saw a total of 11 generations, this one being of the fourth. The 1964 T-bird retained most of the 'bullet-shaped' design that was first introduced in the previous generation but was more squared off to suit design trends of that time. This stunning example of a 1964 Ford Thunderbird is reportedly rebuilt, refreshed, and is currently up for grabs in Utah with no more than 500 miles on the rebuild.

Exterior and Interior

The 1964 T-bird inherited a boxier redesign that was most evident when viewing the car from the front or rear, straight-on. Still, the fourth generation brought forward some similar features or the front end, including the iconic quad headlights. This 1964 Ford Thunderbird comes draped in a burgundy exterior paint that Ford likes to call 'Thunderbird Red'. Surely, like most performance cars of its time, the T-bird received an abundance of chrome, from the dramatic front grille and bumper, along the sides, and for the rear accents as well. Being a Sixties legend, it isn't surprising to see this vehicle sit on a set of brand-new radial whitewall tires that are wrapped around the extravagant Thunderbird wheels. This 1964 Ford Thunderbird is also reported to have an updated dual exhaust system, brand new shocks, and disk brakes upfront. Inside, passengers will be introduced to a fully restored cabin with primarily tan trim. The interior seats maintain the same 'Thunderbird Red' that is present for the exterior and is combined with striking chrome accents, especially on the center console. Apart from vintage features like the horizontal speedometer, the car has an air conditioner and upgraded original radio installed.

Engine

Under the hood of this 1964 Ford Thunderbird sits a rebuilt 406 6.4L V8 engine, that sends drive to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain has seen a rebuild, electronic ignition makes an appearance, and a new fuel tank is present too. The stock fan has been joined by an electronic fan for better cooling, and a drip charger for the battery has been added too.
