Overview of 1966 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible For Sale by Owner

Imperial was a sub-brand of Chrysler that existed between 1955 and 1983. It was created as a luxury arm of Chrysler, offering a series of poshly-equipped full-size luxury cars that were based on Chrysler platforms. Today’s 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible comes from the second generation of the Chrysler Imperial series, and is a two-door Crown convertible. The car comes with all information as reported by the current owner and has received some refurbishment work as well. Currently domiciled in Naples, Florida, this over 50,000-mile machine is a fine classic to drive and cherish.

Exterior and Interior

This 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible comes clad in a suit of black, but its white convertible top grants it a two-tone appearance when raised. The top is power operated as expected for a luxury automobile, so you don’t need to mess around with manual labor. The car rides on 15-inch steel wheels with Imperial covers, and sports dual headlamps up front. Other hallmarks that mark this out as a luxury product include generous amounts of chrome around the body, as well as whitewall tires. The white interior of this 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible provides leather seat upholstery for up to four adults, and we’re told that it’s a new interior with sun resistant material. The interior includes wood grain interior trim, black carpeting, an AM radio, power windows, power seats and power door locks. It’s also got a heater and a square-shaped analog clock. Behind the passenger cabin, you’ve got ample space for your luggage since cars like this would often embark on long trips. When their well-heeled owners flitted from luxury hotel to luxury hotel, they didn’t want to compromise on outfit choices, after all.

Engine

To move this opulent 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible, a massive 440ci V8 is employed. Developing a healthy reported 350 horsepower as factory rated, it powers the rear wheels via a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. We’re told that the car’s suspension and brakes have been rebuilt, and a disk brake conversion has been performed. The car also has power steering which is important given its sheer weight, and makes parking much easier.
