In 2022, this 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 would see a repaint to the sinister dark gray that you see in these pictures, giving it a menacing stance. Adding to the authenticity is the seller’s report that the exterior sheet metal, floor, and panels have never been cut. Round back, you’ve got the iconic quad light clusters and Z/28 trunk lid spoiler for added sportiness. Rolling on period correct wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, this pointy-nosed Camaro is ready to rumble along the streets, as well as take-off down them with a throaty roar. Venture aboard the black four seat interior which was redone in 2022, with most interior bits reportedly replaced, but the headliner and gauges are said to be original. The floor mats carry the Z/28 logo, the gauge cluster trim is wood-effect. The 150mph speedometer indicates the potency of this Camaro, although things aren’t 100% original beneath the skin as we shall read shortly.
The 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 came with a 350ci (5.7L) V8 engine that put out 330hp, but this particular example has undergone an engine swap. Don’t worry, it’s still a Chevy 350ci V8. There’s also an Edelbrock intake manifold, 4bbl Edelbrock carb, and Magnaflow exhaust attached. Late 50s Chevys and mid 60s Cadillacs have always been popular candidates for restomod projects. However, not all of them are tastefully done like this fully restored 1965 Cadillac de Ville convertible restomod. 1965 was the first model year for the 3rd generation De Ville. It retained the same wheelbase as its predecessor, but the frame was a new perimeter frame (rather than the old X frame). The horizontal headlamp arrangement that had been standard since the late 50s was dropped in favor of a vertical arrangement, which also resulted in a wider grille. Gone were the softer lines of the old car, replaced by a sharper, more boxy design. The tailfins that had started shrinking since 1960 were now lower and slanted slightly downwards rather than slightly upwards. The new straight lines in its design make this car just as good looking with the top down as it does with the top up.
