Two-seater sports cars have always had an allure that few other designs fail to achieve. Hailing from Bavaria in Germany, BMW has dominated the sports car segment. Their foray into the two-seater sports car was initially in 1936 with their BMW 328. A few decades later, BMW introduced the BMW Z3 in 1995, which was a successor to the BMW Z1. The Z3 was produced from 1995 to 2002 and acquired multiple awards for its design and performance. BMW sold a good number of Z3s, with a part of the sales due to it being featured in James Bond GoldenEye. Fun fact: BMW also released a James Bond Edition of the car. However, much rarer and more sought after was the Z3 M Coupe. The M Coupe, affectionately known as the "Clown Shoe," is a classic shooting brake design, with a huge amount of cool points for its unique approach. Up for the taking, this 1999 BMW M Coupe is in excellent condition, with just 60,100 miles on the odometer.

The 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe is a gorgeous example of what a modern two-seater sports car should be like. The M elements add significant aggressive styling to the car, further enhancing its desirability. This particular BMW M Coupe comes draped in the Estoril Blue Metallic finish. Being an M car, this Z3 Shooting brake features a factory wide body bodykit with the front featuring the classic BMW dual kidney design grille in black and chrome. Move lower and you'll see the M front bumper with its massive air intakes and air dam. The sides are host to functional vents near the front wheel well and close to the rear fender as well. From the back, the Z3 features a spoiler, M-badging, and quad chrome-finished tailpipes. It sits on a set of OEM M 5-spoke star-design wheels finished in silver. The interior is appointed in black leather upholstery with Chrome Line interior trim. The centerpiece is the 3-spoke M-steering wheel wrapped in leather, framing the four-gauge instrument cluster in black and chrome trim. Interior options include M-floor mats, an electric sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system, and cruise control, among others. The seller reports that all the original manuals are available, along with multiple keys.

The 1999 BMW Z3 M Roadster Shooting brake is not just about the looks. It is powered by a 3.2L S52 inline-six engine coupled with a glorious 5-speed manual transmission and produces 240hp. The M treatment for the Z3 includes four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS and an M-tuned sports suspension.

BMW’s compact sports car offering of the Nineties, the Z3 was made between 1996 and 2002. It slotted in as an entry-level offering, and was based on the E36 Compact’s platform. With over 297,000 units sold during its production run, the Z3 was definitely a hit. It made the BMW brand more attainable to a younger crowd who wanted something hip, funky and easy to drive. This 2000 BMW Z3 2.3 Roadster, for example, is one of 22,282 of its kind, and currently resides in Bristol, Tennessee. With just over 34,000 miles, a smooth straight six under the hood and an automatic gearbox, it's an ideal first car for anyone. The original owner’s manual is available too!

Launched in the late 1990s, the BMW Z3 M Roadster took the compact proportions of the Z3 and infused them with the heart and chassis tuning of BMW’s M division. This 1998 example is finished in Imola Red II over a black interior with a black convertible soft top, presenting as both a driver’s car and a collectible modern classic. With just 30,900 miles reported, it is powered by a 3.2-liter naturally aspirated inline-six paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering the raw, analog driving experience enthusiasts prize.

BMW’s M division has long specialized in turning everyday models into high-performance machines, and the Z3 M Roadster stands as one of the most charismatic examples of that formula. Compact, stylish, and powered by a straight-six engine, it embodied the idea of a driver’s car at the turn of the millennium. Our featured 2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster, finished in white with a black soft top and black leather interior, brings that character forward. Located in Laredo, Texas, it is powered by a 3.2-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and the odometer reportedly shows 117,838 miles.
