Background Story of this 1958 Ford F-100

Overview of 1958 Ford F-100 For Sale by Owner

America’s best-selling pickup truck badge since 1977, and the longest consecutive running pickup truck nameplate, the F-Series is now on its fourteenth generation. It all started in 1948, when Ford decided to overhaul its pickup truck offerings. By 1957, the marque was on its third generation, and that’s where today’s 1958 Ford F-100 comes. This truck appears to have been extensively restored, belying the fact that it’s served its previous owners for approximately 98,676 miles since it left the Ford factory all those decades ago. Today, this beautiful classic truck can be yours if you want something that looks amazingly pristine, yet can be driven around from time to time, too.

Exterior and Interior

Sporting a custom red and white two-tone paint theme, this 1958 Ford F-100 looks like it just left Ford’s Dearborn factory. The red body is perfectly complemented by the white roof, while whitewall tires and period-correct rims complete its quintessential Fifties aura. You’ve got plenty of chrome as well, adorning the bumpers, front grille, headlamp surrounds, and mirrors. Take a peek at the cargo bed, and it’s in great condition, replete with a matching whitewall spare tire. Yes, this truck’s days as a tough and utilitarian cargo hauler are well behind it; now it’s time for a well-earned rest and pampering. The interior of this 1958 Ford F-100 continues the red and white theme, with matching seat upholstery and dashboard setting a very bright and happy theme. You’ve got period-correct instrumentation, a white-rimmed steering wheel and a white column shifter for the manual transmission. The only modern item is an aftermarket radio in retro-modern style. Everything else, including the auxiliary switchgear and window winders, remains as classic as possible, preserving the truck as a sort of time capsule. Show this truck to millennials and Gen Z’ers and they’ll be amazed, to say the least.

Engine

The powerplant of this 1958 Ford F-100 is a sturdy and reliable 223ci in-line six-cylinder unit, with a color-matched engine block for extra visual appeal. The engine was factory rated at 137 hp and was called the Mileage Maker, as it was the most fuel efficient in the third-generation F-Series line-up. The engine powers the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission.

1958 Jeep CJ-5

Current Ask

PENDING SALE
$26,999

Are you the sort of person who prefers a classic off-roader rather than a car? Do you want your classic off-roader to have real off-roading chops, a fine legacy of dependability and come from a well-known American brand? If so, this 1958 Jeep CJ-5 is perfect. Hailing from the illustrious Jeep CJ – that’s Civilian Jeep – legacy, the CJ was created shortly after World War II ended. Willys-Overland, the ones behind the popular Military Jeep knew that without war, their main customer wouldn’t be buying nearly as many vehicles from them. So, they switched gears and made the Jeep CJ, a tough, no-nonsense off-roader aimed at farmers and tradespersons who needed a simple vehicle with guts and four-wheel drive. This vehicle comes from the CJ-5 era which ran between 1954 and 1983. With its naturally aspirated V6, manual gearbox and aftermarket exhaust system, this 1958 Jeep CJ-5 has only done 167 miles since its thorough makeover.

1978 Jeep CJ-5

Jeep’s CJ series of off-roaders is what gave rise to the Wrangler today. You can see the design similarities between the old and the new, despite the Wrangler’s notably larger size, plusher cabin, more powerful engine, etc. That iconic face remains largely intact, with the famous seven-bar grille signifying that the vehicle wearing it is capable of great off-road feats. The CJ series came about in 1944, when Willys-Overland knew that they had to switch to the civilian market to survive. World War II was ending, and the military wouldn’t be needing Jeeps like cigarettes anymore. So, the CJ was born, standing for Civilian Jeep. It was made to live a tough life in the fields of agriculture, construction, mining, manufacturing and other rough-and-tumble industries. Jeep knew that the civilian variant would have a lifespan in years or even decades, not months or weeks like its battleship brethren. Hence, the CJ is exceptionally well-built, and many survive to this day. This 1978 Jeep CJ-5 from Melbourne, Florida is proof of that quality.
