The Austin-Healey 3000 is one of the defining British sports cars of its era, and the early Mk I BT7 captures the formula in particularly pure form. This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BT7 2+2 Roadster combines its 2,912cc straight-six with twin SU carburetors, a 4-speed manual transmission, knock-off wire wheels, and front disc brakes, all wrapped in classic British Racing Green. Inside, black leather, woodgrain trim, Smiths instrumentation, and the compact 2+2 layout reinforce its unmistakably period character. Just as important, this is a vehicle that has been garage kept for the entirety of its current ownership. Showing approximately 59,364 miles, this Healey delivers the kind of mechanical simplicity, open-air driving experience, and vintage European style that continue to make the Big Healey so appealing to enthusiasts.

Popularly called the hairy-chested Healey, the Austin-Healey 3000 was, as the name suggests, a large-engined British sports car, typically in roadster form. Unlike typical British roadsters of the time, the Austin-Healey 3000 came with an uncharacteristically large six-cylinder powerplant and was, overall, a larger car, albeit by not much. Produced between 1959 and 1967, it makes for an excellent classic car to own and cherish. Interestingly, in the Austin-Healey 3000’s later years, the majority of production found its way to North America. Today, we’ve got one of those cars, a 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 Roadster from Gastonia, North Carolina. Why not pick it up and make it your weekend cruiser?
